INDIE FILM CO. JUMPS INTO “THE POOL”
Another Adaptation of Maugham’s Stories In the Works
Indie production company Arriviste Films has recently optioned acclaimed novelist W. Somerset Maugham’s short story “The Pool” – the latest screen adaptation from the author’s extensive literary works, following the fall 2006 release of “The Painted Veil”, starring Naomi Watts, Edward Norton and Liev Schreiber.
“The Pool” is a poignant and tragic story about the pitfalls of love across cultures in the tropics. Set in the late-Imperial world of the 1930s during the last days of colonialism in the Pacific, a young man is seduced by a vision of beauty by a clear pool of water, falling in love, but ultimately losing his sense of culture and direction.
